Vídeo vencedor será
usado em campanha mundial para popularização do Linux
Em dezembro de 2008 o Linux Foundation convidou através de seu website os usuários e simpatizantes do
Linux para criarem uma campanha publicitária de vídeo. A 4Linux,
empresa especializada em linux e Softwares Livres, aceitou o desafio
e é o único vídeo brasileiro participante do concurso.
“ Seria muito bom para o movimento software
livre do Brasil se um vídeo brasileiro fosse o vencedor. O Brasil já
tem posição de destaque mundial na adoção de Linux e softwares
livres e com um vídeo vencedor chamaríamos a atenção do mundo
todo para a adoção em massa do linux e software livres que vem
ocorrendo aqui no Brasil.”, afirma Rodolfo Gobbi, Diretor Geral da
4Linux.
Os idealizadores do concurso foram inspirados pela
idéia da competição de comerciais de televisão da Apple e
Microsoft nos últimos meses nos USA. A campanha “Eu sou um Mac”
deixou o Linux de fora da briga pelo mercado de desktops. A página

“ Nosso vídeo foi
gerado 100% com ferramentas livres (Gimp, Cinelerra, Kino, ...) e
procuramos de uma forma bem humorada e com poucos recursos
financeiros inserir o Linux no contexto da campanha milionária “I
am MAC – I am PC”. Acredito que conseguimos” afirma Eduardo
Brito, Gerente de Marketing da 4Linux.

Alguns leitores perceberam que o Linux.Com foi adquirido pela Linux
Foundation. Observe que a Linux Foundation também é uma das parcerias
com o Slashdot e Freshmeat.
Estamos repassando a nota oficial:
“[Linux Foundation Executive Director Jim] Zemlin says the Linux
Foundation wants to build a collaborative forum where Linux users can
share ideas and get information on the Linux operating system. A beta
of the site will be released in the next few months. … Linux.com is
being redesigned as a central source for Linux software, documentation
and answers regardless of platforms, including server, desktop/netbook,
mobile and embedded areas.”

O líder do projeto Ubuntu (Mark Shuttleworth) anunciou muitos detalhes sobre a nova versão do Ubuntu 9.10. O nome deste release será Karmic Koala.
A produção beta já traz inovações de ponto como um excelente relacionamento do sistema com a Cloud Computing, em especial a AMI da Amazônia para uso em EC2. (versão server)

Steve Langasek has announced the availability of the fourth alpha build of Ubuntu 9.04, code name "Jaunty Jackalope": "Welcome
to Jaunty Jackalope Alpha 4, which will in time become Ubuntu 9.04. It
includes a number of software updates that are ready for large-scale

the latest X.Org server, version 1.6; font dot-per-inch settings are
now optimized based on your monitor's capabilities; new style for
